Projector & Elektra arrive!

The Benq PE8720 projector and Elektra 7 channel amplifier finally arrived this morning, but unfortunately I had to go to work, and then go out to dinner afterwards. So all I could manage to do was unpack them and take these pics, not ime to connect everything up and give the ferret a run. I put the pliers in front of the projector for some scale so you can see just how huge this thing is!

On the left is the glorious Australian made Elektra Theatre 7, a 7 channel Home Theatre amp with enough power to dethrone Little Johnny Howard, yet it does its work with a finesse that would leave Kim Beastly blubbering with joy.

And finally, for those of you more mellow souls who like to see a nice rack, here's an updated shot with some of the equipment in place. Devices in the rack so far (from top to bottom) are:
  1. Molex Cable Management arms
  2. Netgear 16 port Gigabit network switch
  3. Rotel RCD-1072 CD Player
  4. DVDO IScan VP30 video processor
  5. Oppo DV-970HD DVD player
  6. Denon 3805 AV Receiver
  7. Elektra Theatre 7
Equipment that is still to be added to the rack:
  1. Molex CAT6E Patch Panel
  2. Infrant ReadyNAS 1.5TB storage server
  3. UPS for graceful shutdown of NAS
  4. PVR (when the Topfield 6000 is finally released)
  5. Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated 2 channel amp (currently on loan to a friend)

Would it be better if you had the hotter equipment(amps) on top and the cooler ones on the bottom?

I had thought that initially chucky, but there are several reasons why I chose to put them at the bottom:

1. The amps are so overspecced for the task that they actually run quite cool anyway.

2. Having the amps at the top would make the rack too top-heavy and risks an imminent disaster of crushed guests.

3. The equipment that actually runs hottest is the DVDO VP30 and the PVR/STB
