VP30 + 8720 = XTC

Tonight I hooked up the DVDO IScan VP30 video processor to the Benq PE8720 projector. I changed the Oppo DVD player to output 576i via HDMI, thereby leaving the VP30 to do the de-interlacing and scaling to 720p, and...

The PQ was magnificent :)

Even without any colour temperature calibration, the picture looked great. I had to reduce the sharpness a little though as I was getting a lot of picture noise, particularly on the edges of text and people's heads.

I can still see room for improvement with grey scale adjustment to get better shadow detail like I've seen in the stores, but this will come when I get the system professionally calibrated.

Here's some blurry happy snaps, I assure you the image was a lot crisper than these photos show... I really need a new digital camera!

those skin tones look a little over saturated.... need to do a bit of calibration me thinks :P... or it's the camera that needs an upgrade.

we were actually wondering how long it would take you to get to that conclusion... Is photography the next thing.... I guess you need some good content to view on that set up.
